Singapore Airport is a sinister hub of duty-free shopping!

Hello all friends and family,

I'm writing from something called the Rainforest by SATS, which is a sort of lounge where you pay (about Sing $25) for 6 hours in the lounge and internet access and free drinks and showers. The flight was ok, I watched 'Walk The Line' - the Johnny Cash film - which was good, but not great. Then I started watching Zorro, which was terrible. The flight from Adelaide was about 7 hours, and once i'd watched the film I got pretty bored. Thanks for the book though Hugh... 'Farenheight 174' or whatever it's called... I've read about 3/4 quaters of and is really really good (BTW Peter, I think you'd like it heaps too, parts of reminded me of your play you wrote for English in yr 12). Yeah... John (the other Adelaide GAPper) and I have about a 2 hour wait ahead of us now before the Melbourne GAPpers get here and then another 4 hours untill we leave for Bejing.

The best part of the flight was when we passed over some part of Indonesia, the clouds were really amazing looking, massive pillars of white fluff... the water was also weird, from so high up it looked completely still and kind of wrinkled around the land, like skin on coffee.

Anyway, I'll probably post again tomorrow from my hotel in Bejing.

Cya everyone,
Tom
