So much has happened!
Ok so where i left off i was in Zhongdien (Shangrilla).
Well I went from there to Dali. Dali is much like Lijiang, but has a really awsome chilled out atmosphere and a fair few western style bars!
I met Piers in Dali and we spent about 5 days there. Then he went on to Lijiang and I went back to Kunming. We both had a really awsome time in Dali, I got to know the local forginers and really enjoyed myself.
Anyway, I ended up back in Kunming where i met Piers again and an Irish guy (who was stereotypically a big drinker - yay!), named John.
John and I got to a-talking, and we decided to both go to this border town called Ruili (border with Burma that is). I'd got time to kill before my family rock up in Kunming and he had time off from teaching in Kunming.
We made it to Dali (1/4 of the way between Ruili and Kunming) and John liked it so much we got stuck there for about 4 days. On the last day we spent there we climbed the local mountain and stayed the night in a cool hostel halfway up the mountain. The next day i decided I'd have to go to Ruili alone, because John liked Dali so much he didn't want to leave! As far as I know, he's still there.
I caught a 11 hour bus to Ruili and rocked up at 4:30 in the morning.
Oh.... gtg, I'm hanging out in a local bar and the guy who owns it (who speaks english) wants me to come back and drink more Jagermiester or however you spell it.
Hopefully sometime soon i'll get a chance to upload more pictures and stuff.....
Tom
